(this picture is an accurate depiction of what i look like, so i’ve been told)
- i’m 30 years old and i’ve been blogging for about 13 years, back when blogs did not exist, so more like online journaling. why? i don’t know; i was depressed at the time and the internet was just starting up (thanks al go.re). will i stop soon? i don’t know. i guess when i feel like it.
- i’m first generation kenyan american (and have been callling myself that way before o.bama-mania, thanks), which makes for interesting stories. since i’m the first born (i mean, no pressure…), my parents have been here as long as i have been alive. makes for great hijinks.
- i am a trained biochemist; i’ve been doing lab work for about 13 years. unlike most people, i like my job. i hope to complete my PhD soon.
- i am a self-proclaimed nerd. i enjoy books more than people. i watch PBS like it’s the best thing on television.
- i’m an avid but slow reader; i own too many books and i wonder if i’ll ever read them all.
- i love music. anything that sounds good to me, i love. i just happen to own alot of drum n’ bass/electronic music.
- my name: i do not blog under my real name. there are some that know me in real life that know about this blog and there are some whom i’ve met through this blog. i figure, if you know me and one day found this blog, you would know it’s me. i do it more for the safety of my family than me. but then again, i’m not really a people-person either. chi is a nickname that was given.
more soon…
-chi
Dear Chi,
I am contacting you regarding a blog survey I am conducting. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Communication at Penn State and my dissertation project consists of a survey that looks at women bloggers’ perceived motivations for and effects of their blogging.
I am sending the survey to a number of bloggers, and I would like to invite you to participate in it as well. Participation should take approximately 15 minutes of your time. I would appreciate it tremendously if you would be willing to take the survey. If you decide to do so, please follow the link below:
http://www.personal.psu.edu/cds205/blog/signin.htm
I would be very happy to share the findings of my study with you once it is completed!
If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Thank you in advance,
Carmen
